HOW TO NAVIGATE THIS BLOG:

We enjoy sharing our lifestyle with our family, friends, and others. So COME ON OUT and "let's get on with it". You only have an opportunity to live once. For those of you who do not choose to get away, feel free to travel vicariously via this blog.

This is primarily a blog of photographs, of our travels. Our blogging time is limited by our activities, so we figure a photograph is worth a thousand words. You may click on the photos to enlarge them.

There is only one Post per page. You can access earlier posts by clicking on the link below and to the right, or by going to the "archive" which is found below the current post.

The "Relevant Links" will take you to sites showing our current location, the weather conditions that we are experiencing, some of our favorite ports of call, and information related to our boat. When using the SPOT link, to see where we are, click on "satellite" tab to get a photo of the area (takes a while to load).

If you must have more then you may also follow the links to our "Earlier Blogs".

Enjoy

Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club, Shelburne, Nova Scotia

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club and the village of Shelburne are one of our most favorite places to visit in Canada, and always our first port of call.
The unpretentious yacht club and it's members could not be more friendly and hospitable:

"Evergreen," our home away from home, at rest at the Shelburne Yacht Club:

The yacht club is know for it's sailing programs and avid racers:

When the races are over, it is time for some comraderie and the sharing of stories and libation:

The First Crossing Of The Gulf Of Maine

Tuesday, June 19 & 20th, 2012

We have a weather window so it is time to head for Nova Scotia.  As we leave the coast of Maine behind we pass the last lighthouse to be seen for a while:

We leave Monhegan Island to port as we head out into open water:

The passage was 223 nm and took 37 hours.  We were able to sail about half the distance which is a record for us on this particular crossing.   The sun sets over the coast of Nova Scotia as we approach:

Images Of Boothbay, Maine

Sunday, June 17th, 2012

It was mandatory that we visit Boothbay one last time before we departed for Nova Scotia, so yesterday we sailed over to Linekin Bay (Boothbay's backdoor) and anchored just off the public park.  Today we explored a part of the village that was new to us, and eventually ended up at one of our favorite lobster docks.

It is still early in the season so there are flowers everywhere you look:

Remember these?

Boating is part of every aspect of life:

Getting Away From The Dock

June 16th, 2012

With all tasks done, it is time to finally push off.
Once we are out in the open water we pass Seguin Island and it's beautiful lighthouse:

Summer is here --- Seals are seen basking in the sun on the rocks:

As we enter Boothbay we pass the " Cuckolds" and the newly redone lighthouse:

As the sun sets a "head boat" called "East Wind" is taking tourists for a sunset cruise:

A great first day of sailing on "Evergreen".

Welcome Back - Boat Owners

June 14th, 2012

Summer has arrived and the boat owners are returning to Great Island Boat Yard:

In Maine, boats are stored "on the hard" during the winter months.  Many of the boats are already in the water due to an early season, but the rush to launch others continues:

Boats are launched and retrieved with a tractor and a hydraulic trailer at GIBY:
